Paul Freestone GRA.
As an Honours graduate in Botany and Geology, educated at both Southampton and Cambridge Universities, Paul spent many years working in education in both the independent and state systems.
In recent years, he has sought to develop his portfolio as an artist painting subjects which reflect his interest, including wild country, natural history, transport, particularly keeping alive the memory of historic cars and steam railways and the ‘Age of Steam’. His work seeks to capture, mood, movement and detail.
Living in the West Country, near Brunel’s GWR line as it runs through Devon -coast and country- is the inspiration for several of his paintings.
He was introduced to the Guild of Railway Artists, first becoming an Associate Member and then subsequently elected as a Full Member of the Guild.
His work has been exhibited and sold at national exhibitions including the National Railway Museum. His commissions reside in the UK and in countries as far afield as Australia and Canada.
Paul is keen to promote art so undertakes demonstrations, workshops and critiques in addition to his exhibition and commission work.
